“Quality begins on the inside ... and then works its way out.”
Bob Moawad, former chairman and CEO, Edge Learning Institute, 1941-2007

What makes a winner? What are the key character traits that drive a person to succeed—academically, in sports or in their chosen field? Is there a quality that sets winners apart, that makes them stand out in the crowd?

Carol Aastad, MAS, is one such person. Last year she received PPAI’s first Woman of Achievement Award. Nominated by her peers, Aastad was recognized for her work in promoting the advancement of women, her superior leadership and her numerous contributions to this industry and to her community. A 29-year industry veteran, Aastad has a long list of awards and accomplishments including the PPAI Distinguished Service Award, 2004 chair of the PPAI Board of Directors as well as serving on the board of the Promotional Products Education Foundation. In 2005 she was instrumental in establishing PPAI’s Women’s Leadership Conference—the first symposium of its kind in the industry.

At this year’s conference—the sixth annual meeting is set for July 26-28 in Irving, Texas—PPAI will present its second annual Woman of Achievement Award. Do you know someone who deserves to be recognized for her excellent leadership skills and contributions? Someone who embodies the qualities of a winner? Nominating someone is easy. Click here to find the form or to register for the conference.

Women leaders, as Aastad said in an interview in the August issue of PPB magazine, “need to inspire others to follow.” You can read more about this inspiring woman, on the PPB magazine website.
